NATIONAL ACTION PLAN FOR SENIOR CITIZEN'S (NAPSRC)

Senior Citizen's Home Raigarh Chhatisgarh

The Senior Citizen's Home running at Parasada GP in Dongadhakel village in Raigarh district of Chhatisgarh state since 2018 has received financial assistance from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India during last year.
There are 50 inmates in the house and they are provided with free food including tiffin and evening snacks during their stay in the home. Adequate number of staff including a professional doctor is deployed to look after all the inmates.
During COVID-19 lockdown period all appropriate measures including using of masks, sanitization, hand washing at most of the times and health check-up by doctors were taken care of by the deployed staff.


Senior Citizen's Home, Basahatu,Chaibasa,Jharkhand

The Integrated Old Age Home for Older persons has started at Domardiha at the outskirt of Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district since the year 2018. In the year 2020-21 the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has started providing financial assistance for smooth running of the Old Age Home. There are altogether 50 inmates of mix-gender are staying in the home.
As per provision, the inmates are provided with nutrient foods in the morning, lunch time, evening and dinner at night. The doctor is attending them twice in a week and giving medicines as and when required.
The deployed staff are well trained and strictly adhering to the guidelines of COVID-19. All precautionary measures for daily sanitization of the complete building, use of masks, washing of hands are taken care of properly.

Regional Resource Training Center at Chaibasa.

A Resource Training Center for geriatric is functioning at Chaibasa since the year 2018. A few staff with professional qualification and experiences in geriatric services are deployed to provide training on geriatric services. Trainings on geriatric health services and physiotherapeutic exercises are given to the interested candidates in the center.
The staff engaged in various old age homes of Jharkhand states are also attending various trainings on providing quality services to the geriatrics. Besides, certificate courses on geriatric is also provided in the center.

Residential Special Schools for the Disabled Children

SANCHAR has established residential special schools for the disabled children in different locations.

Residential School in Raigarh district, Chhatisgarh

Since 2018 our organization has started one residential special school at Dongadakhel village in Raigarh district of Chhatisgarh state. Initially 30 disabled children belonging to visual impaired and hearing impaired have taken admission. Three teachers and two other supportive staff are deployed to give them free education. All the students have been provided with free accommodation and boarding facilities. A local doctor is also visiting every week for health check-up of the students. The organization volunteers are collecting donation to run the school.

Residential School in Chaibasa, Jharkhand

A full fledged residential special school has been running in Chaibasa of Jharkhand state where 40 disabled children are given free education and facilities of free boarding and lodging. The children are now given education up to VI class. Adequate teachers and other staff are deployed to run the school smoothly. A doctor is also providing free service once in a week for the health check-up of the students.

Residential School at Thakurmunda in Keonjhar district

Thakurmunda block in Anandapur sub-division is tribal area. About 80% of the total population belong to tribal community. SANCHAR has established a Special School at Thakurmunda where 25 disabled children of visual impaired and hearing impaired have enrolled in the school. The organization is providing free education. All the students are staying in school building and they are given free fooding. Local teachers and staff are managing the school. The organization is contributing a little fund and the rest are being collected from nearby people. The school has been running since last three years.

Working for the welfare of destitute and helpless women in Chaibasa, Jharkhand

In our preliminary survey we found 15 such women who were helplessly living without proper food and shelter. Either they are victims of domestic violence & atrocities or continuously tortured by goons of the locality. However, our organization has provided them shelter and engaged them in tailoring works for their livelihood. At the initial stage the organization was providing them food. But, subsequently they have been able to earn a little out of the stitching works and leading comfortable living. Our volunteers have taken the responsibilities to sale the products in nearby markets and receiving better orders for their full engagement. It needs proper assistance from government level to run the center in full fledged manner and more such women may also join after wards.

Livelihood support to poor women in Raigarh district, Chhatisgarh

In Dongadakhel village in Raigarh district women are interested to support the family by doing additional works besides their own home works. Since they belong to BPL category they are not getting proper food and unable to provide health care and education facilities to their children. However, our volunteers have come forward to form SHGs with women members. There are about 60 such women who are involved in three SHGs and all the SHgs are linked with nearest banks. Our organization has also provided necessary seed funds and promoting mushroom cultivation in their own home garden. One year of continuous effort has finally helped all these women to earn at least Rs.5000/- per month in average.

Community Intervention Programmes

It is observed that most of the young boys in Raigarh district have now becomes victims of drugs. They are consuming alcohol, ganja, brown sugar and opium etc. If this habit among youngster is not checked, then not only their lives will be in danger and they will also equally responsible for destruction of their families. Considering the future effect, our volunteers have started distributing leaflets, organizing padayatra and conducting various seminar and various cultural competitions among college students to know the dreaded effect of drugs.
Last year we have conducted two workshops, organized a padayatra and conducted many cultural competitions among college students in Parasada GP of Raigarh district for control of drug uses. Our regular awareness is motivating the young boys for not consuming any type of drugs.

SEMINAR ON CLIMATE CHANGE FOLLOWED BY TREE PLANTATION

A series of meeting, seminars and workshops have been organized by SANCHAR volunteers during last year at Anandapur town on climate change and plantation of trees in different schools, colleges and SHG groups. Many students and people have been motivated and they are regularly planting trees nearby their home area. On a massive attempt after raja festival, on 8th September 2020 hundreds of students and villagers in Fakirpur village planted 5000 trees in road sides, school premises and open waste lands and regularly they are taking care for growth of the plants.

Seminar on Consumers’ Behaviors and Rights.

In present market new varieties and quality products are launched every day. They are also sold in beautiful packaged and attracting the consumers. Consumers are also puzzled to know the accuracy of contents and appropriate prices. To explain the reality of products each individual should know the details of customers’ rights and duties a seminar was organized at Fakirpur on 25th October 2020 where most of the women participants were present. A few eminent persons of the locality were invited as guests to address the seminar. All duties and responsibilities of consumers were vividly discussed in the seminar and provisions of legal laws were also explained for prevention and protection of consumers. The participants were also informed about the available legal forum in district level for the protection of consumers’ interests.

Developing Jute Cluster in Mareigaon village, Keonjhar

Since long the people of Mareigaon village used to prepare jute mats and the products were well accepted by people all over Odisha. But this tradition was about to extinct due to emergence of modern industries. Now the artisans are motivated and supplied with required raw materials to revive the cluster. The organization has taken all effort form a cluster with more than 300 women members and they are given regular training for their skill upgradation. Our organization has submitted a proposal under SFURTI Scheme before IEDO, the Nodal Agency and the same shall be placed in the screening committee for approval.

Promoting Tussar Cluster at Fakirpur in Keonjhar district

There is one Bangali Sahi at Fakirpur where about 500 households migrated from Bengal area have been living since long back. The small area was very famous for producing Tussar products. All family members including old parents use to live only by producing different quality tussar products. Even today, though many younger generations prefer to go for higher education and search for employment, but a good number of both young male and female members are still surviving with little income by producing tussar products.
SANCHAR volunteers are regularly conducting meetings with those members and now they have shown their interest for revival of tussar products with modern and advanced technology and they are assured to get higher Income. This year SANCHAR is submitting proposal for establishment of Tussar product Industry at Fakirpur under SFRUTI Scheme of MSME.
